Reflections from Simson Garfinkel on his MIT experience:

“I applied to law school and didn’t get in because my 4.7 undergraduate average ‘was a bit low.’ Grades matter, it turns out, when you are being compared with thousands of other applicants. To a first approximation, an A from a second-rate college counts more than a B from MIT.”
