In honor of Thomas Ray Heels (AKA Tom Heels), October 19 is now Like Everything Day.
Tom Heels was born on 1936-10-19 and died on 2025-12-05. Today, 2026-10-19, would have been his 90th birthday.
On 2026-03-14, we held a Celebration Of Life event for Tom Heels, and during that event, I announced Like Everything Day, which would be a way to honor Tom going forward.
I registered the LikeEverythingDay.com domain name on 2012-10-04, because Tom had the habit of using the “like” button on social media to indicate “I have read this.” For now, the LikeEverythingDay.com website redirects to the new LikeEverythingDay.com category (https://www.giantpeople.com/category/likeeverythingday-com) and the new Tom & Helena Heels category (https://www.giantpeople.com/category/tom-helena-heels) on my blog. Click the arrow at the bottom of each page to view the next article. There are currently ten articles in these new categories.
So when you are doom-scrolling today, try to stop, but also try to like everything (or as close to everything as you can get) in memory of Tom.
Love you, Dad! Miss you, Dad!
P.S. I’m sure that Tom would approve. And he’d like this! Onward.
