Using Yahoo as a proxy for RSS feeds.
I no longer casually browse the web. I get my information from two sources: email and RSS/ATOM feeds. I am amused, amazed, and confused that many top-tier website still do not offer RSS feeds for their search results. For example, I should be able to search for “Red Sox Yankees” on YouTube and get the results as an RSS feed, but I can’t.
On Google, the results are mixed. You can get a Red Sox Yankees feed on Google Blog Search, a Red Sox Yankees feed on Google News, but not a Red Sox Yankees feed on Google Web.
This is where Yahoo! comes in.
You can use Yahoo! to get an RSS feed for any website, including popular video websites such as YouTube that lack integrated RSS feeds for search results. For example, to generate an RSS feed for Red Sox Yankees on video sharing site blip.tv, search Yahoo! for “site:blip.tv Red Sox Yankees” and you’re good to go.
Or you can use this trick to generate an RSS feed for when Rick Klau is blogging about Barack Obama.
The possibilities are endless.
